Aleph recovered from his wounds and ready for adoption. (Photo courtesy of Valeria Cordeiro)
When Aleph the cat was rescued from the streets of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, he was barely alive.
He lived in the surroundings of a luncheonette, probably because of the scraps people gave him. One day, a customer kicked him on the head, breaking his jaw and nose, and turning him blind in one eye.
Valeria Cordeiro found him bleeding, with difficulty breathing and unable to eat or drink. His condition was so bad I decided not to show his first picture here. It’s too disturbing.
João and Mariana adopted Aleph when he recovered.
Last November the couple got married, and guess who was at the party… Aleph, of course! He was not actually there, but his doll was on top of the wedding cake, beside João’s and Mariana’s dolls.
Take a look at these wonderful pictures of the wedding and the cake taken by Beta Bernardo.

Here are more pictures of the ceremony.

Good News Dani!!!! This kind of News makes us feell stronger and happier!!!!!
Veja aqui:

P.S. 2 – Um Ótimo 2010 para você e sua família.
Translating: Jussara says "This story is really cool. And Valeria is an angel who inhabits Rio de Janeiro. She is responsible for countless rescues of abandoned/abused cats and for finding them new homes.
PS 1 – My kitties came with me to my 50th birthday party (I didn't have Bebel yet). Check it out: http://www.flickr.com/photos/felinosespeciais/312...
PS 2 – A great 2010 for you and your family.
Jussara, thank you so much for your comment. Your cake is awesome!! I wish you and you kitties a great 2010!
Absolutely beautiful. The story, the couple the cake; all of it just beautiful.
Yeah, I felt so happy when I heard about the whole thing. What a story!
:-)
More Good News , Cora Ronai yesterday adopted 2 baby cats that were saved from the streets by Valeria on Xmas day. She was going to adpt only one, a white baby girl , but when she arrived to get the little girl a baby black boy began to play with her and won her heart. The Consequence of this??? La Famiglia now has two more members!!!! The old ones are not so happy, but they will get used to their new brpther and sister.
That's wonderful, Marcia! I'm sure they'll eventually warm up. My foster here, Bo, is painfully shy, poor thing. But bit by bit he is getting used to all our animals.
:-)
Translation. Layla says: "What a beautiful story. I knew Aleph had been adopted, and I also saw pictures of the wedding cake, but I didn't know that the cat was Aleph. This brought tears to my eyes because I remember when Valeria announced she was looking for a home for Aleph. Couldn't have a happier ending!
Layla, I'm so glad you knew the story from the beginning! And I'm glad I met Valeria.
:-)
I love happy endings!
Hi Daniela, Aleph is just adorable! Thank you so much for posting the story. I love your site. :-)
Thank you, Amy! I love your web site, too. Had a great time especially reading the post about Simon's cat. Wonderful!
Daniela

love this story! and i LOVE that they included kittty on the cat topper! so cute!
great relief amongst horrible stories of animal suffering all over the globe
I'm so glad someone was there to save that poor kitty! I hope whoever kicked him gets mauled by a Jaguar.
God bless you for rescuing this poor defenseless creature. Funny how these sickos never pick on anyone their own size, or anyone with the ability to fight back. Boo hoo…they were abused as children. Well, guess what… lots of us were, but that should make you MORE compassionate, not less. LOVE THE CAKE AND GOD BLESS YOU (if there is a God, surely you are blessed).
