Daniela Caride, founder and publisher.

Daniela has been a journalist for the past 18 years and is pursuing a master’s degree in journalism at Harvard University. She is a board member at Phinney’s Friends and the Feline Adoption & Rescue Society and a volunteer at the MSPCA.

Daniela moved to the United States from Brazil four years ago to marry her lifelong friend Martin. Daniela now lives in Cambridge, Mass., with Martin, four cats and three dogs. They are tuxedo Phoenix, gray tabby Gaijin, orange tabby Crosby and gray tuxedo Graffiti; her two Bernese Mountain Dogs Frieda and Geppetto; and Lola, the Saint Bernard.

Jewel’s professional life has included grant writing, training, program management and consulting for nonprofits.

She is finishing her first novel and working on a series of children’s stories about the adventures of her dog, Emma, the Goldendoodle who has run her life for the past six years.

Jewel lives in Cambridge, Mass., with Cheryl, her partner of more than 20 years; and Emma, a certified therapy Goldendoodle. Read about Emma’s adventures as a therapy dog here.


Margarita Persico

Margarita, a journalist with a master’s degree from Harvard University, has published articles — mostly about health — in newspapers, magazines, nonprofit and corporate newsletters in the U.S. and Costa Rica, where she now lives and works as a PR agent. Before becoming a journalist, she worked for over a decade as a computer system analyst.

Margarita also volunteers for the Women’s Club of Costa Rica and keeps a personal blog about her adventures in various parts of the world. An environmental activist and animal lover, she grew up with six mutts (two at a time) as her best friends at home in Puerto Rico, among them Leal, Asabache, Nilo and Puppy.
