Video: Dogs survive Katrina & Haiti

By Daniela Caride Publisher

Dachshunds Bella and Deiter had enough already in 2005, when they survived hurricane Katrina. Unfortunately, that was not the last major disaster they would face. The two canine friends were living in Port Au Prince, Haiti, when the earthquake struck.

Their owner, Paul Fowler, had to evacuate the area and couldn’t take the dogs with him. Heartbroken, Paul turned to the Humane Society of the United States for help. Working in partnership with the nonprofit’s international branch, HSUS located the dogs and brought them to the U.S.

Can we say this cute pair were lucky? Don’t know. They were living on the streets, then were hit by a hurricane, then by an earthquake. Their lucky charm may be their owner, who didn’t give up on them. Kuddos to Paul!
